The Centre for the Advancement of Emotion-Focused Therapy (CAEFT), London has been established
to support the advancement and evolution of Emotion-Focused Therapy for individuals and
couples. It aims to promote the training and further development of practitioners in the
applications of Emotion-Focused Therapy.
Emotional dysfunction underlies all mental disorders to a greater or lesser extent. The Centre
provides training and supervision for mental health professionals working on an emotion-
focused basis across a range of emotional disorders including anxiety, depression,
relationship and intimacy difficulties, and the consequences of trauma.
Training and supervision are provided for working with couples in relation to
couple conflict; sexual intimacy, relationship betrayals, sexual compulsivity, and the promotion of sexual
health and wellbeing; developmental trauma and its consequences; mixed
agendas, separation and divorce.
Dr Nia Pryde (Director) is a consultant clinical, counselling and health psychologist (CPsychol,
HCPC reg, EuroPsy reg), RCP RCoP (HKPS); a senior psychologist specialist in psychotherapy
(BPS, ROPSIP); an applied psychology practice supervisor (BPS, RAPPS); a senior accredited therapist and
supervisor in sexual and relationship therapy (AccCOSRT SenSup, UKCP reg) and sexual
compulsivity (ATSAC); and an accredited family mediator (HKMAAL, HKIAC). She is a certified
supervisor and trainer in Emotion-Focused Therapy (isEFT cert).
Dr Nia Pryde is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society
and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Psychological Society.
